I'm not sure I agree it'll become socially unacceptable to buy ICE vehicles. My suspicion is that sentiment will be confined to the haves component of stratified societies not those of lesser means. People will buy what they can afford which could result in an explosion of secondhand vehicle sales however (and clearly), my preference is more EVs on the road. There's a lot of moving parts in this equation so it's going to be interesting watching how it unfolds.
Time will tell what the market thinks and for all of us invested in battery tech miners, we've hitched our wagons to an educated guess.
