It doesn’t matter what Australians want. The fact of the matter is that Australia no longer has a vehicle manufacturing industry. Until that changes the only new vehicles that Australians will have access to, is what the rest of the world give us. Considering the forewarning we are getting in relation to the established manufacturers intentions to completely cease making ICE cars over the next 4-10 years, Australia needs to start getting its ship together and develop the charging infrastructure now. The importance of realising that Australia no longer has any say/weight/relevance in the direction vehicle manufacturing takes in the rest of the world will be the first step in preparing us for the inevitable.
