each EV only uses 10-20kg of lithium (please correct me if I am wrong). Consumption of lithium chems per kwh is currently 0.84kg. So a 65kwh battery will consume ~55kg of lithium. As the big US SUV's hit the road and global pickup and semi truck markets are addressed (from 2022 onwards) the average road transport battery back increases to 90kwh, thus consuming 76kg of lithium per EV.
That is why hydroxide is so important, feeding the high nickel cathodes, given the higher density, thus smaller pack and less weight. Them comes solid stated batteries, once commercial, the cathode chems wont change all that much, but the graphite in the anode will the replaced with lithium metal, thus increasing lithium consumption.
