Rio now planning to introduce battery powered locomotives to its Pilbara operations in 2024. Plan is to eventually run NO diesel locomotives and thus significantly reduce carbon footprint of their iron ore business.
Looks like we’ll need a bigger boat soon … wonder if any Pilbara mined spod will return in the form of batteries hauling iron ore across the Pilbara? How far down the value chain can one extend its ESG crediting?
