What a stupid analogy to draw, it took approx 30 years for mobile technology to advance from expensive breifcase devices to general acceptance in the community with price points that were acceptable, and the mobile industry was able to leverage off the existing phone networks and power grid at the time. Once population density falls below a certain level then EVs dont economically stack up against ICE engines especially when you consider the cost of replacing the liquid fuel infrastructure and rebuilding and gold plating the electricity grid. Like all new technology there wil be false starts and technological cul-de-sacs on the way to whatever the eventual outcome is.
Claims of no more ICE vehicles in 4-10 years are fanciful in the case of Australia and many other parts of the world.
