In the Aljaazera video i posted yesterday, they talk about the Portugal lit project as holding the biggest lit resource in Europe. Enough to make 600,000 EVs annually.I hope the peeps win out and it doesnt go ahead,would destroy so much natural beauty not to mention been agriculturally productive land!
Fast forward to this and once again you have to ask "where is the raw materials going to come from" Here they're talking 500,000 EV batteries
Volvo hires former Tesla exec to run Swedish battery gigafactory JV with Northvolt
Automotive maker Volvo Cars has selected Gothenburg, Sweden, as the site of its new battery manufacturing joint venture with Northvolt, and has appointed a former Tesla executive to lead it, the battery manufacturer said.
The plant will be run by Adrian Clarke, who ran Tesla’s gigafactory in Berlin, and aims to supply batteries for roughly 500,000 electric vehicles (EV) per year, Northvolt said.
Construction of the plant will start in 2023 and will commence operations in 2025, producing battery cells specifically developed for use in next generation pure electric Volvo.
