Nuclear costs too much per kw/hr. Also, there's a huge temptation to ignore the "forever cost" of waste management, it has to be factored in and added to the price charged for nuclear-generated electricity. If you are serious about efficiency, reliability and economic sustainability, you'll only turn to nuclear when the cheaper options are all exhausted. We are not there yet, we've only just started with the much less toxic and better value renewables. For every dollar you spend on nuclear, you could get a lot more energy if you spent it on better methods.

I also think a lot of support for nuclear is culture war posturing. Nuclear is glowing hot with politics, right wing uranium-bro cold war military-industrial breadwinner masculinity in my opinion, a natural partner for fossil fuel fossils. It's all so manly I am nearly fainting from the fumes of sweat and testosterone, no wonder the coalition can't get women into the party room, it'll only get worse with potato man flooding the zone with his pheremones, now radioactively enhanced, he's like the Toxic Avenger of politics.

That is my rabid woke left wing radical flower power greenie position. tongue.png
