The Chinese goverment, which is of course synonymous with the Communist Party of China, is not the producer of lepodolite. On the contrary I read that "Chinese authorities in Yichuan have already shuttered lepidolite plants due to environmental concerns."

It is the same case with those who opened up mines in Africa. They are entrepreneurial Chinese companies who want to make a buck. But their approach is different from their western counterparts. Western companies' approach is old school that strongly smells colonialism. They want to exploit the natural resources of the country they come to without willing to improve that country's economy. While the Chinese are willing to build the country's infrastructure that will improve the economy and the people's living standard.

If Chinese companies only want to exploit as you suggest, they surely won't win the licence to mine. The fact that they beat Western companies in Africa show they are not as exploitative as their Western counterparts.

African countries are not stupid, Moowee.

I once listened to an interview of the Indonesian Minister of foreign investment. He was asked why a Chinese company won the tender to process nickel in Indonesia. And he said that it was because only the Chinese company that was willing to train Indonesian workers (trade people and engineers) to do the job (technology transfer), and no Western companies were willing do it.

That is the difference!

Now, yes, the Communist Party of China governs China. But compare China with USA! Which country is more capitalist at present? The USA has been raising trade barriers against China. On the other hands, China recently invited executives of big western companies to Beijing to show them that China is open for business.

The Communist Chinese opens its door for trades, while the capitalist American puts up trade barriers.

Experience has shown (with that of the recently delisted AVZ and it’s “sabotage” by a Chinese mining company) that your theory of the Chinese way of doing business in Africa is so far from the truth that it’s laughable, totally laughable.

Perhaps if you talked about bribes and the Chinese way of doing business you might be closer to reality.

All IIMO of course.
