Problem is, the Cybertruck is using the 4680 cells. They are still ramping production of this cell with high wastage presently. It will the latter half of 2024/5 at the earliest, before Cybertruck is produced in any meaningful quantities.
In the meantime, plenty of wastage means the Lithium has to be recycled and reprocessed, meaning new supply will be required to plug the gap until the gigafactory is running efficiently.
I note that Tesla still hasn't progressed silicone anode and dry coating cathode batteries enough to mass produce. It's a long road this battery technology advancement gig.
I see the narrative is still pushing the Na batteries. I'm sure the low range (120km) small EV market will get its share of sodium. Especially in India and China. It's needed as there just ain't enough Lithium for this transition.
Britain winding back the timeline for full electric as the reality of the transition sinks in.
