I posted similar views years ago and again recently, most of the top 10 selling cars are Dual Cab Utes or SUV's
Until there are viable EV or even Hybrid options available this will continue.
Many of the Dual Cab utes are bought as commercial vehicles so there are tax benefits obtained with them. New car market in Australia is about 1M units, or roughly 5% of total cars on the road.
Most households can't afford new cars, that's why the second hand car market is so large.
There are plenty of relatively cheap new cars in the small car market but even low $20k is out of many household budgets along with the small car not suitable for household needs.
