Yes and how long did it take the All Ords to get back to what it was prior to the melt down?
Many many years. People's lives were ruined, suicides, broken marriages etc etc. It was a dreadful time to endure and perhaps even worse for the retirees or about to retire after working their guts out to save a little to put aside and losing the lot. Many couldn't take advantage of clawing back their finances when the market recovered. It was too late for millions of people.
So many of us reacted far too late re changing one's super, share portfolios and once they did they were too late getting back into the market. It was panic stations and you were on your own.
For me without being left money I would have been in a lot of trouble.
I anticipate it not t be a GFC type disaster but a 20% correction for me is troubling.
You are 36y.old and definitely ride it out and good on you indeed, but as you now this will happen periodically throughout .
