watso was having a look at a recent sbm report, and it seems that the southern cross mill (or marvel loch) will move to "campaign milling" from sept 2009 (ie treat ore from other tenement holders). the mill has a treatment capacity of 2.4m tonnes per annum, and the idea is to treat third party ores, on the basis of "one week on, one week of.. from memory, gda had about 200,000 tonnes at buffalo - which would amount to about 4 weeks treatment.
watso does spend a bit of time on the gda thread (see attached gif), but cannot be bothered checking everything out. however, watso will toss in a few ideas, and maybe others can think about it.
1. sbm have stated the following "open pit mining of small, low grade deposits in recent years at Southern Cross has at best been marginal, and will cease at the end of July 2009. from memory, watso has previously checked out the grade of these deposits, and they could be a bit less than the 2.1 gm per tonne, that gda have at buffalo - which was about 300,000 at 2.1 gm per tonne.
2. gda are looking at treatment via a "cip" plant, or a "vat leach system". it could be that the alternative of trucking the ore to the sbm plant is uneconomic - if this is the case, then gda ore, could be very marginal. from memory, trucking costs are about 15c, or 20 c per tonne kilometre (happy to be corrected)
