There have only been small rises here - I think from memory its been 10-20% rise, chicken in Australia is now wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy cheaper than other markets such as US and Singapore where there have been more substantial increases. Without a big rise of 50% as you have suggested, I get the feeling we will be in the same predicament as what happened in the building industry where costs went up but they did not jack up prices and many went under - Inghams needs to be firm with Coles and Woolworths (who in my opinion are the one's putting pressure on suppliers not to hike prices) - they need to bring in their finance people and say to the major supermarkets that prices need to go up substantially otherwise we don't make any money. When I go past the poultry section in coles or woolworths I'm quite shocked at how cheap chicken is compared to beef.
