Telstra and NBN Co close to network deal Lucy Battersby

.TELSTRA and builder of the national broadband network (NBN) NBN Co are inching closer to a final deal.

The NBN Co board is believed to be meeting this Friday and could consider the deal if it is ready. Telstra's board will hold an unscheduled meeting when the documents are finished, to approve it before the deal is announced to the market.

Cabinet must also give the deal a preliminary tick of approval before sending it to corporate advisers for a thorough analysis, and could meet this week or next week while Parliament is sitting.

Advertisement: Story continues below The deal is worth $11 billion in today's money to Telstra and would see it leasing infrastructure to NBN Co and shifting customers off the copper network and on to NBN Co's fibre network over the next decade.
