Hi acreage yes it does ease the mind somewhat, thanks for the info.

One company (SM Energy) is planning to frack with carbon dioxide.

I emailed SSN with this idea some months ago, & suggested that fraccing with C02 syngas may produce better flow rates & also longer well life.

C02 is very hard to come by (you wouldn't know it if you listen to the greenies though lol), however LNC captures C02 syngas in the process of converting Gas To Liquids.

LNC will use this gas in their EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) which is where they force the C02 under pressure, into old "depleted" oil wells. The process releases an amazing amount of oil that was previously unrecoverable.

EOR has been used for some time, but what they usually use sounds very similar to fraccing fluids. Regarding EOR, C02 is far superior to the conventional EOR fluids used and releases a much greater percentage of oil.

My idea was to try fraccing the shale with C02 as a replacement to the usual fraccing fluids.

LNC have an EOR unit already established in Casper, Wyoming. A JV between LNC and SSN would imo be sweet for all concerned.

Sounds like common sense to me, but neither SSN or LNC have returned my emails so I assumed the idea must be crap.

Seems like SM Energy thinks it's worth a shot though.
