The jewel in the Focus crown is Treasure Island, a 3km-long outcrop in Lake Cowan salt lake, south of Kalgoorlie.
Focus paid a local prospector $1m cash and a swag of Focus shares for the tenement, which had been overlooked by the majors despite being so close to the city's famed gold lode.
"I just think we were lucky," says Focus chief Campbell Baird, who notes the immediate area is more known as a nickel province.
