NSW ‘has to step on the gas’
By Scott Rochfort, 11 September 2014, The Daily Telegraph Energy Federal Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane has warned the looming gas shortage in NSW has become so serious that it is no longer a matter over-pricing but of ensuring supply into the state is maintained. The minister said NSW is going to be very, very short of gas in the next three to four years, reiterating the urgency for a new gas pipeline to be built connecting the state with the gas fields of northern Australia. The NSW government continues to refuse to fast-track coal-seam gas production in the state which imports 95% of its gas.
