All good points there r.e. supply and demand. One reason for MOUs and buying up at this early stage would be control. Whether there is oversupply or not, whether prices are low or high, whoever buys now has control later, and some people/companies/countries will pay any price to gain it. I'm not claiming to know the answer, just adding a scenario to your great summary.
