    Among small mining stocks, Lafayette Mining Ltd. soared 19 per cent higher to 10.5 cents after it restarted operations at its copper and gold mine on a remote island in the Philippines that was shut last year for pollution violations.

    "With the copper price as strong as it is, companies like Lafayette are worth watching," said Shaw Stockbroking analyst Ted Leschke.
