I think you will find that tony is a stickler for the rules. His father, as i seem to remember him saying when he posted here, was a former head of the NCSC. Tony writes news releases without any hype at all. He follows the JORC code to the letter, which is a pain for shareholders. He is the only MD I am aware of that declared his poition prior to posting here - it would take a leap of faith to believe that there are not other MD's posting on stocks.
As for due diligence etc., I have no idea. The board has to sign off on purchases so I would assume all is fine.
As for the timelines on announcements, well take a comfortable chair and relax as we all know how rubbery timelines are!
