Howdy,
To me it's not about cash flow, pipeline, SOI, cash in bank, quality of management team, IP, market size, product market relevance etc. etc.
In this respect any company can be compared against another.
However, for a direct comparison, I prefer to evaluate companies competing in the same market, chasing the same customers, with similar products. Then all the benchmarks that can be applied to that industry can be used when comparing the companies.
You would compare Westpac to NAB, but's its a stretch to compare them to Temple & Webster.
I consider these businesses as completely different. One is in the semi-conductor business, making bespoke MEMS and microsensor solutions.
The other is managing the surface properties of nano particles, helping companies improve outcomes through better surface utilisation.
Other than they are both supplying materials to manufacturers, there is a very small subset of customers that will cross-over. And I don't compare AMCOR to CSR just because they both supply a given food manufacturer, one with cardboard boxes and one sugar.
So IMO, I can't see a way to compare them other than at a level in which you would compare all companies on the ASX.
cheers ... it's fine for others to disagree as well !!
