It may surprize Graham that I too agree with that particular post.
It was as you had pointed out previously specifically NOT an apology on behalf of the Australian people.
I have also just heard on talk back on the way home that the protests against Nelsons speech appear to be contrived and that the booing and loud clapping started before he got his first word out in some places.
It is believed that activists deliberately took a swipe at Nelson for 2 reasons...one Howards legacy...and 2. he did not commit to sorry speech before reading Rudds actual speech...this was taken by some that he in fact didn't really support an apology (and was ion fact written up that way by some media over the past few weeks).
I think Rudd did a wonderful job and Nelson whilst factual and against paid hecklers fell well short of what he could have done...he probably should have simply taken a leaf out of Kevin 07'S book and said 'me too'
