You'd think so , wouldn't you. Do some solid research on the reality of it though in the area of microcaps. The reality is a lot different and in most cases leads to a serious depreciation in shareholder value.
After a commercially viable mega-find of whatever resource they are searching for is the only time when a consolidation is beneficial to shareholders, as this is when the majors sit up and take notice and institutions start buying up big and the action really begins.
