This shows just how much research you've done...would you mind explaining to me where BHP are going to drill the second deepwater well to earn their 60% if OEL only have one target...surely you don't think they're going to sink two in Marantao!
You're right in that it is not known whether SC55 contains a proven hydrocarbon system, YET...it is a totally new SC and has not been held or drilled by anybody previously...only a bit of 2D seismic exists. Perhaps BHP have been lured in by the observed O&G leaks from seafloor to surface over the Marantao prospect...maybe something else...time will tell.
Personally, I think Galileo has answererd what I suspect is going on...BHP and Shell are interested in elephants, and as such, the two blocks that have been of interest, viz SC55 and SC63 (the southern section of), both contain different geology to the rest of the Palawan Basin...people should do some research on that geology, it is proven in a big way elsewhere.
If you feel the need to brush my posts off, go ahead, but you need to be more substantial than "bad joke" and "blushing bride on her wedding night"...I mean, were you in the room when the deal was struck, or are you telling us what you think happened?
KB2, please note my sentiment and disclosure lest you think I'm just an OEL upramper/NDO downramper. The ratios of my holdings might surprise you..bigtime.
