I just recently bought in and she tumbled like a lead balloon. I got a habit of this happening to me . It's because I don't understand the charts properly and just buy off fundamentals.
This time however I am not too worried as their fundamentals are strong and they are actually making a decent profit and already paying dividends. They are currently debt free but that will soon change when they acquire the 70-80% stake in Angel nickel project. However this is not a bad thing as going off name plate with Angel they will double their NPI output and potentially position themselves to doubling profits. I believe currently Ranger and Hengjaya are producing above nameplate so they have good form in this regard.
Nickel is going very solid and demand will only get stronger with the wider adoption of EVs.
You mentioned NIC only produce NPI, yes true but they are also stockpiling limonite ore from the Hengjaya Mine and currently negotiating to possibly supply the the limonite ore to the nearby HPAL plants being constructed. So they do have the ore to supply to the HPAL plant for battery grade mineral conversion.
The company also mentioned the consideration of having a stake in the Hpal plant. So they are definitely looking into getting involved with the battery supply chain.
Even if they dont get a stake in the Hpal plant and end up just supplying the limonite ore this would have a big impact on the efficiency of Hengjaya Mine, lower mining costs and increase profits.
Ballie Giff becoming a substantial holder recently is also a big plus for me.
This is currently short term pain for us new holders, but with potentially big upsides in the not too distant future. I believe the company is in a fundamentally strong position and I hope they keep kicking goals.
