Good Time for a higher bid?

IF there is to be a higher bid, from a rival to NST,then the current market downturn seems like a very good opportunity. For example, an all-cash bid at $2.45?

Which Company might make such a bid? Some of the largest Gold Mining Companies have been mentioned several times. However, so far none have made a public bid. Recently, with the Gold Fields/GOR bid /counter bid, I thought that a possible outcome might be that Gold Fields accept the GOR counter bid, with a major modification- i.e. GOR sells the DEG stake to Gold Fields and then Gold Fields make a full take- over offer for DEG.

I am aware that Gold Fields stated that it was not theCo. intention to acquire DEG- but the statement was qualified with the usualnot at the present time.

I manage a DEG holding in two portfolios. One portfolio is for a young investor - the intention is to accept the NST offer and hold. The other holding is in my SMSF. In my SMSF I intend to sell my DEG shares (just waiting another couple of weeks for a possible higher bid) and further substantially increase my cash holding, with a view to eventually purchasing more high quality, non- mining shares, at good value prices.

Increasing my cash percentage has been part of my investment strategy for several years – per my post on the 30/10/23 “cash percentage and when to deploy” . I have not seen good value for several years. Perhaps, a Trump policy induced recession might result in a good market buying opportunity.
