Have a close look at the usage of Zinc. You will notice that more and more products which used to be zinc-plated are noew replaced with plastic coated steel ( eg Colorbond ) or even stainless steel ( eg Milk and other containers and pails ).
Zinc coated steel is always somehow suspect as far as corrosion is concerned, its replacement it not.
IOt is far more economical to use modern products than stick with zinc coated products.
So, IMHO Zinc is on the way oput, steel, stainless steel and plastic coated steel are on the way in.
