Geopolitical risk in NZ is huge, AIZ might struggle if Bill English does not challenge lameduck PM Key for leadership of National. Key carrying on about detainees in Manus/ PNG and Australia being NZ rapists did nothing for AIZ or the NZ economy lest alone tourism to NZ or Australia.
Flag debate killed Key, National never really trusted Key, an ex-Bank of America Merrills FX trader formerly known for sackings, and Labour is just too poor as an opposition, days of Lange and Douglas at the helm well gone.
Even if Bill English defeats Key amongst the sleepy National MPs, I think the pakeha vote is wandering, the flag debate was divisive, awful and dreadful, probably putting back race relations, Waitangi and causing more social unrest: I think the non-English in the anthem needs a look and perhaps revision so perhaps another candidate from National might be in the mix to get the Pakeha vote back.
Whatever happens, I think the lack of geopolitical stability in NZ has become reflected in the AIZ SP,
