a significantly higher volume on the SELL side coupled with a low volume on the BUY side indicates that this stock is out of favour
higher volume on the BUY side coupled with low volume on the SELL side indicates that this stock in in favour
you can also see a bit further into the sentiment by looking at the actual number of individual buyers and sellers as distinct from the number of shares they want to buy and sell
a higher number of individual buyers versus sellers usually indicating that the stock is in favour
and further a lot of little buyers coupled with relatively few sellers but with huge volume on the SELL side might indicate that one large individual seller may be trying to offload a significant holding
like everything else in the irrational market place it's a black art and predicting the future accurately is always difficult if not impossible
