This is just an attempt by government to say to voters look we are doing something , are not we ? ...

it will not nothing and just put a smile on investors face ... well will could make some petty cash money for government

the fun part is initial proposal was $1500 but no we are going to get tougher we put $5000

why not propose $ 100 and then increase it to $1200 then we can all say whooo that is real action 1200% increase .. this sort of rubbish

Real action that could be done :

1. NG cancelation
2. Raise first deposit to 30% minimum for investors
3. Abolish outright ownership for houses for foreigners and investors
4. Free land for rezoning more aggressively
5. Build infrastructure fast rail link
6. Foreign investors have to pay not $5000 but 10% of surcharge to own things here . I think in SIN they have something similar

Also we do need more capital cities or to decentralize spread the population, do you know that Melbourne, geographically is one of the largest cities in the world

If they did spread they would need to re-install the rail system with drive on facility
