Dave, when Whitlam introduced free Unis there were few Unis and fewer still students. Probably only students from the top 5% of the cohort could get in. Now with over 40 Unis stacked with students we would send the Government broke and tuition would deteriorate at Unis because Professors could not be paid and only PhD students would teach.
