I bought into CSL during the worst of the 2010 market dives, so did very well. But I sold some at around $66 - having doubled my investment - to buy other shares. Should have held on, as it happens.

At the same time, I have CSL in my superannuation account. I bought in around 2011 - v good prices but not as low as earlier. Then I sold half of them to buy Graincorp, GNC. I was betting on a take over offer, and thinking that I would have a rise and a pay out from GNC, and then reinvest in CSL. It all went to plan but ... politics got involved. And when politics gets involved then common sense goes out the window. After a whole lot of humming and hawing, Abbott decided to disallow the GNC take over. He left Hockey to make the announcement. Hockey gave very vague reasoning, saying that the take over company were "not good people." He sounded like someone trying to organise list of dinner party invitations.

Bah! GNC is now substantially below the take over offer price. CSL has gone ahead, but I have a lesser stake, which is not how I intended.
