pintohoo Not sure what relevance Spain has to young Aussies investing in property. I have just arrived home from visiting some of those struggling European countries so I understand the heavy handed taxation and unemployment etc. The idea is not to acquire multiple properties at once or become heavily geared. The idea is to, by whatever means own outright your first property and work step by step and on. this is why it takes up to 30 years to own outright a solid property portfolio. If you take unnecessary risk and become lucky you might achieve outright ownership far earlier, but I wouldn't advocate that. Granted property may well be less liquid than shares but the idea is to get rid of the heavy gearing as quickly as possible. Those who achieve this will advance steadily and safely towards financial security and independence.
