Without over-complicating the various arguments:
This article shows the value of payment platforms, however Square cannot operate in Europe or Aus/NZ in it's current configuration with 'old' swipe card technology. Chip & Pin is the way of the 'near' future. Which is Mint's major advantage.
Does this make Mint a takeover target? Yes, BUT, highly unlikely as around 50% of the company is locked-up by management and major long term investors.
Therefore a hostile big stands no chance of succeeding.
So what premium for control? The answer to that is unknowable. Pick any massive number.
Hopefully the latest quarterly report, due about the end of Jan., should give us the latest sales and some revenue numbers and projections.
Imo the recent strength in Mint is due to the expectation of some good numbers.
In the meantime this is good day trading territory.
