Goombargana Hill

I've been doing quite a bit of reading of past drilling and sampling in the region taking up our Rand project. Whilst it's not been heavily explored, there has been some exploration across the obvious surface areas and it's probably the case that valuable minerals aren't present in big scale at shallowest levels under outcrop - say to 30m (maybe 60m) depth of most older exploration) or they'd have been found already. IE to find scale we will probably need to get under cover to find the source/s of the intrusive gold we believe is in the area.

However, Goombargana Hill is an outcropping granitic intrusion of some interest and it's been tested, primarily for tin and tungsten - not especially successfully (although there was small scale tin mining there in the 1940s I believe) but it looks like there may be a commercial industrial application waiting to be exploited there. Not the glamorous minerals of gold and copper, rather commercial feldspar - could still be worth the company investigating if nothing comes of any of our other exploration. By that I'm thinking in a year or two's time as we work our way down to the south and west of the tenement.

The following excerpt is from the document published by the NSW govt and Goombargana gets several mentions.

I known it's not glamourous but the Goombargana resource is the richest NSW feldspar source mentioned in this document. It's scale is significant given the document says that in 2004, global production was about 11 million tonnes - ie Goombargana contains 10 years of total global production.

I really don't know anything about the economics of commercial feldspar, if there's an opportunity waiting to exploit or not. I just thought it was interesting and worth passing on. And who knows? Perhaps the presence of a resource scale deposit of an industrial mineral might be encouraging for discovery of other mineralisation nearby.
