Gorilla to get mail-order mate

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A grieving gorilla at Johannesburg Zoo will get male company -- thanks to gorilla matchmaker Studbook International.
Lisa, 33, has been a widow since the death in May of Max, 35, a 200-kg (400-pound) national hero since he survived a 1997 shooting by a burglar who leapt into his cage while fleeing police.
Zoo chief executive Jenny Gray said Makoko, 14 years Lisa's junior, would arrive from Munster Zoo in Germany on Friday. Studbook found him. After 45 days of quarantine, he will move into a cage next to Lisa.
"After that, how they get on is up to them," Gray said.
