You missed the second part of that paragraph.
A central bank introduces new money into the economy by purchasing financial assets or lending money to financial institutions. Commercial banks then multiply this base money by credit creation through fractional reserve banking, which expands the total supply of broad money (cash plus demand deposits)
And the next part
In modern economies, relatively little of the supply of broad money is in physical currency. For example, in December 2010 in the U.S., of the $8853.4 billion in broad money supply (M2), only $915.7 billion (about 10%) consisted of physical coins and paper money.[25] The manufacturing of new physical money is usually the responsibility of the central bank, or sometimes, the government's treasury.
And the details on financial assets
A financial asset is an intangible asset whose value is derived from a contractual claim, such as bank deposits, bonds, and stocks. Financial assets are usually more liquid than other tangible assets, such as commodities or real estate, and may be traded on financial markets
You can not convert $1 helicopter dollar into a tangible priceable asset. This means it is a fiat currency. It is not bought on convertible tangible item. Life savings, bonds and stocks can not be traded if the currency is worth 0, because it has collapsed on its fiat-ness (made up word). Even if they are buying things like property to introduce new cash, the value of property is based on its evaluation in a fiat currency, which is 0.
