Lot of vehicles now days, (certainly not my old bomb)
use satnav or whatever, which will give you a reasonable speed estimate.
A GPS, which I have a top of the range Garmin, can
only tell you where you are.
In conjunction with a good chronograph etc, would be 100% accurate, but only on straight/flat road.
