The Voluntary Assisted Dying option is there for people who are suffering.
Just had an old Army mate this year go down with an inoperable brain cancer - opted for the big sleep.

He was always very stoic and had lived a damn fine retirement. Hope to go out in similar style. I suspect a lot more people will do the same as they see approaching dementia or cancer.

The superannuation "sweetspot" is thanks to the taper rule. That is - someone who only has $250k in super retires and gets their income "topped up" by a bit of pension. As their super depletes, the pension rises. Someone with $850k super gets zero pension but is forced to withdraw far more to meet the same "income".

The greatest wealth transfer has begun, as many Boomers are dying with a lot left in their super, and their house. Some have outlived their relatives/children and friends, and have a very hollow existence in the final few years. I became an orphan years ago, and $0 split 5 ways wasn't much, but many others are looking forward to 7 figure inheritances.

Whats the average kickoff? 90? 85yrs old for blokes?
I'll take 10yrs of healthy retirement and then go Logans Run.
