re: the 3 worst prime ministers in oz I'm washed up now and hardly remember Menzies, so few of you would either. But Menzies' "British to the boot heels" dumb conservatism set this country on the wrong track. So wrong for so long we are still carrying his baggage.
I'm one of those who did indeed believe "It's Time" in '72. It is history that Gough was like a bull in a china shop but after so many years of pathetic government by the conservatives he had neither the time or patience to solve one percieved problem at a time.
Hawke was the best Liberal prime minister this country ever had. His "compact" with the unions traded years of pay rises for some very dubious tax cuts. The unions will never fall for that again. Pay rises are like sex... one you miss out on is one you never catch up. Tax cats blow away like smoke in the breeze.
It wasn't Keeting who gave us 18% interest rates either, that was Paul Volker.
Not only was Fraser a poor PM, his description of the job of HM's Opposition was, simply.... to oppose. History tells us he did that exceedingly well LOL
