Why does the government rely so heavily on the banks passing on mortgage rate cuts to mortgage holders to ease the living costs of the typical Aussie family?
The coalition is also 'urging' the banks to pass on the rate cut.
"The coalition has been urging all the banks to pass on Reserve Bank rate cuts in full, and we hope the other banks will follow." Mr Hockey told AAP
