When a business fails due to bad management or poor planning then that is the business owners problem and he can expect little help or sympathy from anyone.
Just imagine you were the owner of a popular Coffee shop in the middle of Sydney, profits are good and everything is running as it should. Then one day the council comes to you and tells you that the water is going to be turned off indefinitely starting in 6 Months. You have time to prepare for this but what do you do? Anything you do will cost you a lot of money and probably your business. Was it bad planning? No. Just a set of circumstances set before you that made it impossible for you to continue making a profit.
I understand that people who have always lived in cities have little understanding of how an agricultural business works but what annoys me is that there seems to be this "attitude" from the general public that everything will be OK , the farmers that are just bad managers will go broke and there will be plenty of others to take up the slack. This is not the case. Farming is in crisis in this country and it WILL affect everyone's standard of living. Do the shelves in the supermarket have to be completely bare before people begin to wake up? Food prices are rising everyday and it is not going to get better anytime soon.
