It seems many are critical of the Howard Government but fail to appreciate what his government achieved. Record post war employment numbers, record low interest rates, disarmed the nation, introduced the GST which has proved a winner, record state funding, improved border security etc.
His down fall was his last 6 months with sub-prime global fiasco, rising global oil prices and an election period where like any government he was not prepared to make unpopular decisions in the lead up to an election.
Yet some on this forum only speak of the last 6 months and of the issues which Kevin Dudd now likes to say are beyond his control!!!
