the increase in the price of grog is only 10% of the increase applied to tobacco/nicotine. both 'drugs' should be treated the same. alcohol is far more damaging to the body and community than any other drug; is far more carcinogenic and damaging to the brain and liver and strongly indicated as a cause of violence, particularly domestic violence.....
immigration though was set up not by Albanese but by Abbott due to Abbott's demand that universities be self-funding and instead provide stimulus to the Aus economy. as well he cut funding to TAFEs and added rogue "training colleges". this resulted in reduced skills training necessitating businesses to demand migrant workers.
these two aspects of Abbott policy account for approx. ⅔ of Aus migration today.
the current govt are trying to undo the damage done by Abbott and the succeeding govts, but its a complicated job and so will likely take some years to correct. just restoring university funding is difficult due to cuts in Aus govt revenue and the necessity off maintaining Aus student inclusion in studies.
