That’s spot on.
The perks of being a permanent employee have been piled on. The worst of these is the inability to be able to sack someone without paying ‘go away money’. Being stuck with someone you don’t want is a disruption and cost a small business cant afford.
Annual leave, LSL,maternity,sick leave, etc etc are hard enough to manage. The owner and his family have to structure their lives to fit in with the whims of the entitled permanent employees.
Much easier to pay the extra to have casuals or contractors who have an incentive to fit in.
