DaveR - can't see how Abbott is "scuttling" as you suggest...lol. I can't believe how you can continue to keep defending the indefensible. Even Robert Manne can see that Labor's onshore processing is not working.
And the Coalition have experience in border protection. I think they have good reason to hold their ground for the sake of Australian border protection.
This statement from Abbott in an article I just posted on another thread - says it all really. The Pacific solution was simple and effective, but take any part of it out and it will fail, imo.
