I’ve said previously that I think the reported increase is reasonable.

Let’s see what happens.

Personally, I think a tiered approach based on age would be preferable, with persons in their 60s getting a fortnightly payment close to the aged pension (but keeping the requirements to prove they are looking for work).

It reflects the likely reality that, whilst still not of pension age, they don’t have much prospect of gaining employment. Almost a transition to retirement for the unemployed.
