The government won't do jack and nor should they. They don't give a stuff about the shareholders and nor should they in this type of scenario. Its not the governments role to bail out companies. Let the free market deal with it.

If Wayne Swan's decision was based on economics for the country he would have put a total block on the bid. PH has to be excluded because its on federal defense land as stated.

"I am predicting that over the next few weeks, the government will be crunching numbers, conducting a risk analysis etc that will prove that this asset is worth saving"

"The Government has finally opened its eyes and can see that investing/assisting OZL could be seen as investing in wealth generating infrastructure. Wayne Swann can see that now."

Your not getting it!! Saved from what?? Assisting for what reasons?? If the asset is viable it will be snapped up by another company. Doesn't matter who owns the assets, if its feasible it will continue to run regardless if the parent company is bankrupt or not. The government understands this.

What is it with you guys. Get it in your head. Its not the governments role to bail out the corporate sector. If your bail out incompetence its setting a very dangerous precedent.

Best hope now is for someone to bid for PH. BHP maybe!
