The Commonwealth Government is still protecting the commercial interests of Multinational manufacturers despite:
-These multinationals pulling the plug on Aussie manufacturing 4 years ago
-That we have a Free Trade agreement with Japan, Australia's primary source of used vehicles
-That the Australian Government will not fully recognise Safety/Emissions/Vehicle Security of Japan, EC & USA

This 25 year old embargo is not as good as te original Motor Vehicles Standards Act 1989 before the 2002
amendment which scotched the import on used vehicles less than the rolling 15 year old program unless such vehicles were
orphans" and were subject to an expensive RAWS regime which was designed purposly to not work, IMO.

Those concerned with the current "Claytons" used vehicle import regime should write to teir local MP expressing
concern that our FTAs are unfair when it comes to the average Ausssie's access to cheap/good quality vehicles ex Japan
while, arguably, these FTAs are putting downward pressure on the Average Aussie's income.
