travel, rent are propping up the rate of inflation ? and sales of luxury vehicles have hit a record high ?
very simple.. we have wealth prolonged inflation ..
are people living on the breadline responsible for skyrocketing rents, international and domestic travel and the purchase of luxury cars ? no because it's all discretionary both spending and also discretionary in the 'choice' to increase rents when there is no law, or institution holding a gun to landlord's heads saying 'you must inflict pain upon tenants' and the GOVT can't do a damn thing about it
the fact is that the loudest and most vitriolic complaints and contrived distress, will most likely come from constituents that are spending heavily on discretionary items because asset inflation has allowed them to do so.. playing a two faced game accusing the GOVT of not doing enough, while at the same time, doing their individual best, to stoke the inflation bubble
the govt is neither targeting the source of discretionary inflationary spending nor is it reaching for the chequebook to write blank cheques for stimulus, subsidies on petrol or housing incentives for the bottom end
the relentless blaming of the current GOVT for structural and inequitable issues within our society which are exacerbating and prolonging the pain of inflation, ring hollow when stood up against the raw data
